Sanctuary Stained Glass

The Grand Narrative of Scripture :: God’s Plan for Redemption

Introduction & Overview

Each panel, which together make up the windows, depicts a particular event or traditional Christian symbol. Most elements of the panels are drawn from scriptural sources, but some are from Jewish and Christian tradition. Each window, which refers to the whole column, declares the truth of the Salvation narrative. All the windows taken together present us with the Grand Narrative of Scripture. The sanctuary progresses from the Old Testament to the New Testament to the Age of the Church.

Windows 1-6 are the Old testament and Revelation. They depict the Fall and the revelation of God's character and plan for salvation.

Windows 7-16 are the New Testament and David. These windows declare the life, death, and resurrections of the incarnate Jesus.

Windows 17-20 are the lives and deaths of the Apostles. These windows declare the earliest acts of the church and rightfully bring us into the church of today.

The back two windows declare the Fall and rejection of God’s plan and promise and the results of that Fall.

North Windows :: Procession & Recession

During the Procession, you face away from the north windows. On the windows is the light of the creation of the world. God said let there be light. At the bottom of these windows are a man and woman who are Adam and Eve. They are the same color as the center light representing that they were created in the image of God. The unfallen world radiates with God's light.

During the Recession, the windows represent that we are going forth to be the light of the world. Let us go forth in the name of Christ to love and serve the world. Alleluia.
