Moved by Mercy :: 12/7/25 :: Katie Gayle
Welcome to Wellspring Church!
Waiting is hard. In this week’s Advent message, Pastor Katie Gayle invites us to take an honest look at the ache, impatience, and longing that shape our lives—and to see how Advent speaks directly into that experience. We live between the first coming of Christ and His promised return, and while we wait, our hearts can easily grow weary, frustrated, or afraid God has forgotten us.
Drawing from the imagery of kids asking, “Are we there yet?”, Pastor Katie names the deeper question we all carry: “God, are You there yet?” Advent reminds us that Jesus will come again to make all things right. But it also forms us as people who can wait with hope—and who know how to turn toward God instead of turning inward to anxiety or false comforts.
📖 Key Themes in This Message:
🔹 Why waiting reveals our desires, fears, and false securities
🔹 The promise of Jesus’ second coming and the hope it brings to real-life waiting
🔹 Learning to turn toward God in the “middle period” between the comings of Christ
🔹 Repentance as a gift—releasing what keeps us in darkness and returning to the One who gives life
🔹 Worship as a way of seeing clearly again who God is—constant, good, merciful, and worthy of it all
Advent is not about pretending everything is fine. It is about naming our longing and letting it draw us back to the God who sees, saves, and sustains. As Pastor Katie reminds us, in our waiting we pray, we repent, and we worship—because Jesus is worthy, and because His presence meets us right where we are.
