Deuteronomy—Listen and Love :: 11/16/25 :: David Norris
Welcome to Wellspring Church!
What does it mean to live a blessed life? In this message, Vicar David Norris continues our journey through Deuteronomy 28—moving from last week’s focus on curses to the surprising, expansive generosity of God’s blessing.
David reminds us that blessing isn’t a shallow hashtag or a material upgrade; it’s the deep, soul-level fullness that comes from living in right relationship with God. From creation to Abraham to Jesus himself, Scripture shows a God who is eager and unrelenting in His desire to bless His people.
Blessing stretches across the whole of life—“in the city and in the country… when you come in and when you go out.” And yet, we often miss it when we seek God’s hand more than His face. The pathway into blessing is the pathway of obedience, listening, love, and repentance—turning from our idols and legalisms and allowing the Spirit to search our hearts.
Ultimately, David points us to the One who fulfills every promise: the seed of Abraham, the Son of David, the obedient King—Jesus. He is the One who comes to make His blessings flow as far as the curse is found, restoring us to the presence of God. And this is our hope: the fullness of life in His presence now and forever.
📖 Key Themes in This Message:
🔹 God’s eagerness—not reluctance—to bless His people
🔹 Why true blessing goes deeper than material comfort
🔹 The call to seek God’s face, not just His hand
🔹 Obedience as the pathway into life with God
🔹 Jesus as the One who removes the curse and restores blessing
🔹 The fullness of life found in God’s presence—now and in the age to come
The invitation today is simple and profound: seek His face. As we grow in listening, we grow in loving—and as we grow in loving, we grow in listening.
