The Parables of Jesus :: 6/15/25 :: Billy Waters
Welcome to Wellspring Church!
In this message, Pastor Billy Waters continues our summer series on the parables of Jesus by exploring the Kingdom of God through the lens of forgiveness. Drawing from Matthew 18:21–35, we’re reminded that nothing welcomes God’s presence like forgiveness—and nothing drives it away like unforgiveness.
Jesus’ parable of the unforgiving servant shows that the Kingdom is built on mercy, not merit. We who have been forgiven an immeasurable debt are called to extend the same grace to others.
📖 Key Themes in This Message:
🔹 Why forgiveness is the foundation of every true revival and move of God
🔹 The spiritual and emotional cost of unforgiveness—bitterness, isolation, even physical illness
🔹 What forgiveness is not: condoning, forgetting, reconciling, or restoring trust prematurely
🔹 A fourfold path of forgiveness: name the harm, cultivate compassion, cancel the debt, and release the offender
🔹 The role of the Trinity in empowering us to forgive as we have been forgiven
Forgiveness is costly—but it leads to resurrection life. Just as Christ canceled our infinite debt, we are called to cancel the debts of others, not because they deserve it, but because we’ve been transformed by grace. Forgiveness is not weakness; it’s the gateway to healing, joy, and peace.
