Maundy Thursday :: 4/17/25 :: Katie Gayle

Welcome to Wellspring Church!

What do we do when the message of “never enough” seeps into our souls? On this Maundy Thursday, Pastor Katie Gayle leads us into the final message of our Lent series on The Seven Deadly Sins, exploring greed—not just as a desire for more, but as a distortion of trust.

Looking at 1 Timothy 6 and John 13, we see that greed is rooted in misplaced craving. It promises satisfaction but leads to ruin and sorrow, luring us away from dependence on God. In contrast, Jesus—who had all things—laid it all down in love, kneeling to serve even the one who would betray him.

📖 Key Themes in This Message:

🔹 Greed begins with craving but ends in destruction

🔹 The love of money isn’t just dangerous—it’s a trap

🔹 Jesus models a radically generous life, even washing Judas’ feet

🔹 The call to be rich in good deeds and to live generously in community

Greed says, “Never enough.” But Jesus says, “Let me wash you clean.” As we practice foot washing and remember His sacrifice, we’re invited to lay down our striving and receive life that is truly life.
