Window 16 :: The Great Commission

This window embodies the Great Commission to go forth and make disciples. It uses three of the parables of Jesus. Christ is Risen now we must go and tell the world the Good News.

Panel 1, 2 - Parable of the Mustard Seed - Matt 13:31-32

These panels show a growing mustard tree growing out of yellow ground. This is in reference to the parable of the mustard seed. The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, it starts small but will grow to a large tree. By preaching the good news we plant small seeds in people's hearts that will grow into full trees of faith.

Panel 5 - Parable of the Candle Under a Basket - Matt 5:14-16

This panel shows one candle underneath a covering and one uncovered candle, This signifies the parable of the candle under a basket. We are told that we are the light of the world and that we are the medium through which people can hear the good news.

Panel 7-10 - Parable of the Weeds - Matt. 13:24-30

This panel shows stalks of wheat being separated. These images allude to the parable of the weeds in which good wheat and weed grow up together to be separated at the end of all things. This parable shows us that the Gospel will go out to all and in the end Christ will separate the faithful and unfaithful. For our part we should reach as many people as possible just as Christ and his Apostles did.
