Window 6 :: Psalms

Windows 5 and 6 are best understood together. These two windows illustrate the character and nature of God. Windows 1-4 are illustrating the reasons and plan of salvation, but before that plan is worked out, Windows 5 and 6 show us his nature.

Window 6 parallels Window 5. Where Window 5 shows God's justice, Window 6 shows God's mercy and providence. Each of these panels depict a Psalm that declares the mercy of God. God’s justice and mercy are beautifully taken as one piece that should not be separated.

Panel 1 -  Man Under a Wing

He will cover you with his feathers,

    and under his wings you will find refuge;

    His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. - Psalms 91:4

Panel 3 - Shield and Arrows

You will not fear the terror of night,

    nor the arrow that flies by day. - Psalm 91:5

Panel 5 - Man Standing Alone

What is mankind that you are mindful of them,

    human beings that you care for them? - Psalm 8:4

Panel 7, 8 - Tree Planted by a River

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

    which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither

whatever they do prospers. - Psalm 1:3
