Window 8 :: David
The previous window began the plan for salvation in the four Gospels. Paired with that window is Window 8, which shows the life of King David. Jesus is the heir to King David and the promised son of David who would save all. In this window, the images of David should be taken as truth about Jesus.
Panel 1, 2 - Tree of Jesse
The Tree of Jesse is the symbol of the lineage of David and Christ. The tree represents that Jesus came from the long lineage of King David and from the grounded history of the Old Testament. With the previous window and this tree, the windows usher us into the New Testament.
Panel 3 - The Sling and Stone
The sling and stone represent David’s fight with Goliath.
Panel 4 - Tambourine and Cymbal
All of the music imagery in this window represents the Psalms that David wrote. The music of this window is a declaration of the joy that is coming in the next windows.
Panel 6 - Lyre
Panel 7 - Music Notes
Panel 9 - Star of David
The Star of David, sometimes called the Seal of David, became the symbol of Jewish people in 17th century Prague. It has since become part of the flag of Israel and here represents David’s dynasty that Christ comes from.
