Window 2 :: The Flood
This window declares humanity’s rejection of God and his prophets through the Fall, for which we are deserving of judgement. Despite this God still saves Noah and his family.
Panel 2 - The Saw of Isaiah
This panel depicts a saw, which is a symbol of Isaiah, who is traditionally remembered being killed with a saw by King Manasseh. King Manasseh rejected Isaiah’s prophecies, and in doing so, he rejected God. This symbol emphasizes that Manasseh, like the rest of humanity, has rejected God and his prophets, choosing his own desires over God’s plan.
Panel 4 - The Bowl of Fruit of Amos
This panel depicts the bowl of fruit shown to Amos in a dream. In Amos, God declares an end to his people because of their sin. Like summer fruit, they are ripe for judgment. In the context of this window, the rejection of God and his prophets seen in Isaiah's Saw has brought about this judgment.
Panel 6, 7, 8 - Noah’s Ark
These panels depict the animals entering Noah’s Ark. In Genesis, the sins of the world were so great that God flooded the Earth, saving only Noah, his family, and the animals upon the ark. The ark is an often used image in Christian art and embodies God’s grace. Despite our rebellion and sin God still chose to save his people.
Panel 9 - The Rainbow
This panel depicts the rainbow that appeared after the Flood. The rainbow is the symbol of God’s covenant with Noah and his descendants to never again destroy the Earth with a flood. In the context of this window, this panel reminds us of God’s promises and illustrates again that he is working out our salvation.
