Poverty Alleviation
The Bible tells us a story of God leading his beloved creation into the flourishing it was designed for. This flourishing is holistic, meaning both the physical and the spiritual are redeemed by the work of Jesus. We are a church that embraces the reality that God is restoring all things! In light of this, we are committed to caring for our friends, neighbors, and family members that are experiencing various degrees of poverty by providing effective and holistic support that is grounded in relationships and moving towards flourishing that reflects the Kingdom of God.
Our Community
Englewood has an increasing population of people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. These are our neighbors, family members, and loved ones. Wellspring is a church that not only opens our doors to everyone, but one that also offers hope in the midst of uncertainty. Our location on Broadway is a blessing that allows us to be an easy point of access and support for our community in need of resources, relationship, and the love of Jesus.
Our Approach
Relief
Many of our neighbors are experiencing crisis and have immediate needs of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and community. Wellspring is there for our community in these moments, offering support to help people make through each and every day. One of our approaches to poverty alleviation is to provide a community resource center, called The Well, where our neighbors can come to have these immediate needs met and build relationships with supportive community that will hold hope in the midst of crisis. Development
We want to help our neighbors exit poverty through supportive solutions that surround and equip them with the skills they need to flourish. People who come through The Well work closely with Compassion Ministry staff members and volunteers to address key issues and work towards stability. Wellspring also collaborates with our partner organization CrossPrupose to provide workforce development that enables individuals to pursue careers and holistic health. Community Engagement
Wellspring is committed to being a church that renews the city through the work of the Kingdom. We care for our city by partnering with local officials, businesses, nonprofits, and other churches to create a community that loves our neighbors. We recognize that we are not the only ones seeking to better Englewood, we intentionally work alongside partners to make this city a place that reflects the Kingdom of God.
